BC2 was built by Jean LeCam in carbon for his own use at JMV in 1987 to a VPLP
design. She is a landmark vessel not only for her many race wins under Le Cam
and Desjoyeaux, but was the first tri expressly designed to sail on one hull.
She was the prototype for the ORMA 60 and MOD 70 design trends. She has a single
central daggerboard, twin rudders and two ama daggerfoils that feature variable
angle of attack that is adjustable at speed. All blades have been glass bead
blasted and re-faired. She is easy to transport being fully demountable and
containerizable. The new aluminum road trailer, full cradle system, and a new
67' spreaderless wing with travel splice allow the entire package to be pulled
by a pick-up truck. The new carbon spreaderless wing was engineered by Nigel
Irens choice, John Levell. Clocked back in the day at 38 knots the new rig and
rigging are 450lbs. lighter! Standing rigging is all new Amsteel with custom
teardrop ends. Her new prepreg carbon boom has the hydraulic ram fully enclosed
with new stations at each helm. The new carbon bowsprit is also prepreg with
internal sheaves. All winches are Lewmar self-tailing, with Spinlock stoppers,
Harken tracks and cars, and mainly Vectran and Spectra running rigging. Electronics
include ICOM VHF and Garmin mapping GPS. Fixed and portable bilge pumps, anchor
and rode. Tillers are carbon composite with a new full width tiller bar. Sail
inventory includes a very good Richard Bouzaid Doyle square head main with Taffeta
with one season use and a self tacking blade and small Code Zero that are delivery
sails. Canvaswork includes full knotless Spectra nets, behind beam fairings,
and forward triangular nets and recent mainsail cover. There are two separate
mainhull scoops for either the recent 25 HP two stroke Mercury that is available
or a new extended main hull scoop if you want to go diesel inboard. Hiking racks
on fore and aft tracks. The interior is currently bare but has room for very
basic accommodations. She is currently US state registered. I do not know the
situation on French taxes but she was commissioned and sailed there before export,
