On mooring!
2010 "Captain Jay rescued Messenger where it had been derelict on a mooring for five years"
2011 "After a brief haul-out they set sail from Florida on New Years Day in 2011, at this time the crew consisted of Captain Jay, Natasha and two daughters Sol and Luna, then 5 and 4 years old. They sailed to The Bahamas, Cuba and Costa Rica where they stopped for their beach wedding. Afterwards they sailed to Bocas del Toro, Panamá where they stopped for a few months to work. In September they continued on to the San Blas islands, Colombia, Curaçao, Bonaire, Saint Lucia and arriving to Martinique in December. Here they stopped for four months for the birth of their third daughter, Caribe. When Caribe was two months old they continued sailing north to Guadeloupe, Dominique, Antigua and Barbuda, after which they made a longer jump straight to Bermuda where they stayed for a month before continuing on to NYC, arriving in July of 2012. After a month in the Hudson river they sailed up the East river into the Long Island sound to Montauk and Block Island before settling into Newport, Rhode Island to work and complete a total refit on Messenger. Here they stayed for two falls, two winters, two springs and two summers."
2013 "Total refit in Newport, Rhode Island finally bringing it to her original splendor."
2014 "Finally
in August 2014, with a refitted Messenger, the Coconuts left Newport, Rhode
Island and sailed to Lunenberg, Nova Scotia, to the French island of Saint Pierre
and to Saint John’s, Newfoundland before their epic North Atlantic passage,
crossing the Labrador Sea, ducking under Greenland to arrive in Iceland in October."
"The Coconuts spent the winter of 2014-2015 in Iceland
where their fourth child was born, a son named Ártico. While in Iceland
they signed on with ISNIC as their title sponsor. After experiencing long winter
nights and endless daylight summer days near the Arctic Circle, they set sail
in August 2015."
2015 "European voyage from Iceland to France, fall 2015, Heading East towards Europe, they sailed with stops in the Faroe and Shetland islands, Norway, Denmark, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, and France, where they stopped for the winter of 2015-2016."
2016 "What’s
next…
The Coconuts have big plans for the future, among some are: planning a European
sailing schedule for the summer of 2016, selling Messenger to find a larger
boat to accommodate their growing family, and organizing some professional racing
programs. Keep tuned in for news on the Coconuts future projects..."
