1978 From Sailing Anarchy forum 2014 "Kanata was a truly beautiful boat. I remember sailing Southern Straits in 1978 and it blew like stink starting around sunset. She was not far ahead of us and lost the rig. We sailed double reefed and no jib most of the night, so it was truly snotty"

Early/Mid 90 From Sailing Anarchy forum 2014 "Plavsic detuned Kanata years ago - early/mid 90's IIRC. It had been for sale cheap (for the time) but didn't sell for whatever reason. He took it off the market and put major $$ into turning it into a cruiser from the full race boat it started as. The decks got completely re-done, right down to those Lewmar ports and self tailing winches, new paint etc. etc.."
