Comment from Facebook 2022 "Built by Fred Preiss behind his used Auto business. Took him a couple of years to build her. Designed by Dick Carter as far as lines go...structural basics also by Dick, but Fred was a pretty good engineer and modified some things. She was cold molded using West Systems. Fred designed and built all the hardware including the coffee grinders. They worked OK until Big Boat series in 1980. If I recall correctly we finished that series with only one working primary winch as we had to scavenge parts from the other one to keep one working. I sailed with Fred and his crews numerous times including BBS. At that time I was with Hood Sailmakers and we built her original sail inventory. She was pretty fast but really suffered from lack of funds to compete with the likes of Kialoa III and Windward Passage. She had a very limited sail wardrobe. Many people were negative about Fred's efforts, however I think he deserves credit for tackling a project like this and pulling it together with a reasonable degree of success. He was quite an innovative thinker."

from Facebook 2022 "I enjoyed
your well written article on Christine , raced on "Mistress Quickly"
in the BBS . After 2 races Winward Passage & MQ were equal on points , unfortunately
we blew out the famous big chute decorated in sea birds down near the Bay bridge
in very close company with WP . On the last leg we ended up in a tacking duel
with "Christine" some where between Coite tower & Fishermans warf
, we were on port you guys on starboard , our after guard included Robbie Doyle
, Gary Jobson , Steve Collet , peter Bowker with Harold Cudmore driving . Bowman
Dougle Black yelled out he didn't think we were going to make it & then
we got a bad knock & Christine was lifted , remember Gary Jobson scrambling
past me half way up the deck & seeing Christines bow pop out under the clew
of our headsail , i think she would have cut our stern off if the helmsman hadn'-t
luffed up into the wind . After we finished our owner Bill Whitehouse- Vaux
ìnstructed us to go over to Christine who was flying a protest flag &
apolagized to Fred & said we would not be contesting it , chas from tas"

up the Baja coast in some breeze looking at a Playboy centerfold, 1981. Was
on the delivery crew taking Christine from Puerto Vallarta to L.A. in March,
with Fred and a young hot shot crew of degenerates. Damn, that boat was a gas
to sail!"

October, For Sale The overall design work of the yacht came from the famous
Dick Carter and built by Fred Preiss. is a majestic yacht that can accommodate
a total of 14 people on board and has a total of 4 crew members, winner of the
most important race in the world in the 70s / 80s. The intellectual property
of professional naval architecture is the work of Dick Carter. In 1977 it was
formally launched with triumph at Redondo Beach Ca and after sea trials and
details were handed over to the owner who commissioned it. Fred Preiss has completed
his new construction of sailing yachts in the United States. The central hull
was built with wood/GRP (cold pressed) composite. The component of the superstructure
of the sailboat is mainly made of composite. It has a fairly deep draft of 4.3
m (13 ft). In 1998 it had carried out maintenance and modification and refit.
