From Facebook: "Extensive modifications
made for the Sydney-Hobart race 2019: After acquiring 100ft Reichel-Pugh Esmit
Europa (ex. Alfa Romeo) and her return to Australia, she finished second in
the 2018 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race and inspired the Black Jack Team to
look for more performance. The Reichel/Pugh team knew this had to come from
a longer, fuller bow section, adding significant volume up forward for power
reaching and running offshore. Therefore, 1 meter was cut from the stern to
facilitate the construction of a new bow. Additionally, the transom width was
extended at the deck level and a longer bowsprit was built to improve the flying
sails projection and sheeting efficiency with the mainsail. (competitor 100ft
Wild-Oats XI had performed a similar fuller- bow program)"
