2010 For Sale, Contention 30, Built by Southern Ocean Shipyard, Poole in 1978, Fitted out by Mylor Yachts, Falmouth as a cruiser masthead sloop designed by Doug Peterson. Dark Green GRP Hull with Pale grey decks, Tiller steering Varnished 2010 refit, Rudder has been re-laminated and re-gel coated in the 2009 winter refit. Deck had been painted in 2009 with blakes Multicoat with a non slip finish on top of a non-slip pattern. Cockpit seat and teak slatted floor has been re glued and finished with tropic sealer. 5 Berths in 2 cabins, ... Saloon/Galley, The galley includes 2 medium sized stainless sinks with again pressurised hot and cold taps. Cooker which was replaced in 2008 (Nimbus 2 ring oven and grill electric ignition) cooker area has been faced with metal sheeting.New electric fridge installed in 2008. New Switch panel and GPS alongside with VHF Radio and CD player. Volt Meter and Switching for fridge. 240V Socket also fitted. Yanmar 2QM15 15hp 2 cyl diesel (1980) Re-sprayed 2008, Recondition fitted 2010 Hurth KBW10 Gearbox, Shaft drive with 2 bladed propeller new 2008, Electrics: 3 12volt batteries ( 2 Domestic) and (1 Engine) charged via a Victron battery management charger fitted new in 2008. Also charged from 35A alternator. Florin has been re-wired throughout with new lighting. GPS Cobra colour screen new 2008, Wind direction, Log and Depth new 2008 (Clipper) Mounted above companionway in a pod and set into black perplex, Compass new 2009, VHF by Apelco, Sails and Rigging: Aluminium mast and boom by proctor/Trevor Reed, 6mm stainless steel (5mm baby stay) All replaced in 2009. Running rigging, Spinnaker halyard replaced in 2009 all polyester/wire. Mainsail Sobstad Dacron with two deep slab reefs 1999, Furling Genoa replaced in 2008 Green UV Strip, Profurl furling system again new 2008. Owners Comments: " Florin is a beautiful yacht which has been cruised by its current owners, but previous owners have successfully raced at yacht club level under IRC handicap (29 class wins in last 49 starts) in the competitive Poole fleets. She has won many round the cans, Passage and also cross-channel races. She is a fast dry boat very much before her time with good sea keeping and passage making qualities. Despite her speed she can be easily sailed short handed and has been cruised many times single handed. All her lines lead back to the cockpit for ease and safety. Florin has undertaken a large refit in the year of our purchase 2008, with the re-varnishing of all woodwork, the re-new of electrics throughout. The Adding of Furling Genoa and Profurl furling system. The adding of Spray hood and Dodgers for comfort. The installation of Hot water and pressurised water.
