2008 Février, For Sale - A Vendre, Year 2006, Model TP52, Builder Cookson Boats NZL, Designer Farr Yacht Design, Design # 590, Hull Material Carbon Fiber Composite, Rig Material Carbon, Yacht Location Puerto Calero, Canary Islands, FYS Broker Bill O'Malley, Hull Color White, Engine Yanmar, Fuel 70 liter, Steering Twin Wheels , LOA 15.85m, LWL 14.76m, Beam 4.42m, Draft 3.20m, Displ. 7,485 Kg, Ballast 4,270 Kg, Bottom Epoxy Barrier, Type Hall Spars , L/A Date Nov. 1, 2007, Listing Price $ 900,000 usd. FRAM XVI a fourth generation Farr® Transpac 52, built by Cookson Boats of New Zealand, was developed to compete in both the European and US Transpac 52 competitions. Design #590 was developed to meet the demands of a specific selection of Mediterranean venues. This design is the direct result of first hand experience gained while sailing and competing in Transpac 52 class for the 3 years and based on previous FYD designs #585 (Bribon, Caxia Galicia and Rush) & 586 (Pegasus & Atalanti), Research for this program focused on the following areas: Beam optimization studies for the proposed venues/conditions, Hull shape refinement, Transom immersion and effective length studies, Appendage sizing studies, Foil and bulb shape optimization, Review of existing boats performance and observations, Deck layout refinements, Construction refinements, Carbon fiber epoxy pre-preg Nomex core sandwich deck and hull with selected use of foam coring in the forward ‘slamming' areas. Vacuum-bagged throughout with carbon/foam infused interior structures. Monocoque type forward of the mast for ease of sail handling Structure to ABS Offshore Racing Guidelines, Suitable for offshore racing. The interior arrangement has been simplified to its racing functionality. Structural detailing has been reviewed to reduce weight and maintain reliability. The resulting weight savings have been used to congregate weight centrally in the boat to reduce pitching inertia and allow some exchange of volumes between appendages and hull. There is a three burner stove and ice box are in the main salon, head and lavatory sink are forward of the mast. The rig is a fairly standard 20-degree swept spreader layout with a freestanding topmast without the “cathedral” style stay support system. The stay envelope has been carefully set out to achieve the most efficient sheeting of the overlapping code zero upwind sail. The mast has been designed to class rule minimum weight and VCG height. FRAM XVI also has several sails for training /transport purposes, in all approximately 50 sails. FRAM XVI has been professionally maintained throughout its life and is a well-developed and orchestrated effort in the Transpac 52 class. FRAM XVI represents one of the finest programs and yachts competing at the 2006 & 2007 Med Cup Series. This is an excellent opportunity to purchase a top-level Transpac 52 at the completion of its second year, a well sorted and race prepared ‘turn-key' project.
